Small Size, Immense Impact

If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room. — Anita Roddick

Sometimes we might ask ourselves, “What good would that do? I’m a nobody.” However, it’s amazing what one small thing can do.

For example, yelling “loser!” to someone with low self-esteem. It’s one word that cuts very deep. Smiling at someone who’s had the worst day ever can lift them up high as the sky.

You never know how much impact something tiny can have.

  1. When I was in graduate school, I was chatting with a friend of a friend who was kind of down on herself. She was an undergrad. We were looking in the window of a nearby sorority and in that window was a blond sorority sister that the friend of a friend kept to comparing herself to in negative way. I told her that the blonde was nothing without her blow dryer. It was an offhand remark but really cheered up the girl I was chatting with.
