Gratitude Quotes

Time to reflect! We’ve now completed nine months of 2023, also known as Q3 in business circles. It’s also the end of another week. What are you grateful for?

There are so many wonderful things: family, friends, the weekend, another fulfilling week… the list goes on.

As we think about the things we’re grateful for, we’ll share some thoughts about gratitude from writers and storytellers.

“Writing’s still the most difficult job I’ve ever had – but it’s worth it.” — John Grisham

“Love and magic have a great deal in common. They enrich the soul, delight the heart. And they both take practice.” — Nora Roberts

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” — Stephen King

“Everyone’s got some greatness in them. You do. The girl over there does. That guy on the left has some. But in order to really mine it, you have to own it. You have to grab hold of it. You have to believe it.” — Shonda Rhimes

So true – love and magic similar – both takes practice and “What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” Also so true – “Everyone’s got some greatness in them.”

All great quotes. Gratitude is hard when we’re so used to ignoring those little things. And writing is an incredibly difficult but often overlooked profession. It’s much harder than most realise and love the quotes about it.

Yes, and with AI, writing is becoming undervalued. Professional blog writers have been told to write faster or use AI to help them write faster, and some want to pay them less, since AI can “help” them do the work.

Yes, that’s one of the biggest issues AI is causing. The work of writers is more undervalued now and underpaid too. So many people even expect that you’ll write for them for free for “exposure.”

Yes, it is an unfortunate direction that things are going. However, the most in-demand writers are still making high salaries, which is good news.

Yeah, thankfully I don’t think AI has progressed to a point where it can replace all writers and the ones that are really skilled should be okay.

AI is both replacing jobs and creating jobs. I use AI to help me edit but I still need to check the results. Similarly, I write the content for an AI program but I still need to modify what I’m writing because the AI can’t process it yet. So if you have talent, AI can’t replicate your skills yet.

Yes, I think AI isn’t at the point where it’s okay on its own but it does seem to be rapidly improving. I agree, I don’t think AI can’t replicate a real humans writing skill with where it is at the moment.
